Last time your fabric junkie (me) talked about polyester, that much-maligned, often justly, fabric whose use became common about the mid 60s, and really hit stride starting in the early 70s. We showed some classic, upscale examples of designer poly-knit pieces, but today we have some everyday pieces; some designer items that are, shall we say, a bit more “70’s trendy”; and some uses that had been primarily the domain of fabrics such as silk, rayon, acetate, and nylon. 1970’s polyester lent itself incredibly well to the wild prints, bright (some would say “loud”) colors, and outlandish styles of the 70s

Hannah guessed I was wearing blue nail polish with sparkles on top –that’s one tick over on the color wheel from the actual color, which is purple. But it did have the all-important element of “sparkles,” so she was the first to get the closest answer and she wins! The color is this one, It’s Bouquet With Me . My nails aren’t that long, though

I have decided that I am going to let go of a few pieces of my “most hoarded” vintage collection. It is making me hyperventilate a little just to think about doing it, let alone actually doing it! I will start with my matching set of Emilio Pucci for Formfit Rogers lingerie
Here’s the collection by Nickie Nina which was showcased at the 2010 Pakistan Fashion Extravaganza, they had a mixture of outfits including saris, churidar suits and some of the heavily embroidered bridal outfits as seen at this year’s Asiana Elite Bride ShowMany thanks to photographer Shahid Malik for use of these photos

As I mentioned some times ago gloves somehow do attract a big share of attention among the wearable technology community and fabulous ideas keep flowing. Today’s interactive glove has been designed by Ashwin Rajan and Kevin Cannon with the intention to provide a gesture-based communication tool for firefighters, the Frontline Gloves . Frontline Gloves are a pair of networked gloves that allow two fire-fighters to use hand gestures to communicate with each other in a fire-fighting situation

In this clip I’m not sure which is better: Anita O-Day’s lovely voice or all the fashionably dressed spectators. One things that stands out in this video is the wide and varied use of accessories, hats in particular. O’Day herself dons a wide brimmed black hat with white feathers, reminiscent in style to that famous hat worn by Audry Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s

I use frequently the word ‘magic’ in connection with illuminated clothing as light radiates a kind of magic especially when it comes from objects that are not (yet) commonly known to light up like …. clothing. The word ‘Magic’ in connection with health monitoring T-Shirts has another meaning in this case as ‘ MagIC ‘ stands for the Italian acronym ‘Maglietta interattiva computerizzata’ (’computerized interactive T-Shirt’).

I foolishly decided to play football up in Edinburgh this weekend and if the 10 hour return journey wasn’t bad enough, we also lost!
