My contribution to India’s World T20 campaign

One has never bragged on this blog, “See, I told you so.” Maybe part of the reason for that was that none of the things that one predicted actually happened. But mind you, that was only a part of the reason. The other part of the reason for not bragging was because one’s astrologer (HS) had strictly prohibited from going to the public fora claiming to predict stuff, correctly, of course.

IPL scandal will not impact cricket’s popularity – Partab Ramchand

By Partab Ramchand I have always believed that in India at least cricket is the Teflon game. The term comes from the brand name of a “non-stick” chemical used on cookware and was first applied to President Ronald Reagan

IPL and the Mauritius connection

A lot has been said about the Mauritius/ Dubai/ Cayman Islands connection of the various dodgy organisations linked to the economic aspects of the IPL. Some ownership patterns show decent percentages of IPL franchises being owned by privately held Mauritian entities, which have no obligation to publish their books of accounts and hence open to allegations of slush money finding its way into the holy cow of Indian way of life.

Think it Over #7 – The Name Game

Over #7: The Name Game Note: Go here for answers to and our ” leader board ” at the end of Over #6 of “Think it Over” . Mahela Jayawardena molted out of his ‘non-T20’ skin in one of his last few matches in IPL 2010, a bit too late, some might add. But what he did manage to do is to create a new identity for himself right up the order as a dashing opener in the latest format

Many IPL batsmen show horrible lack of technique – Sunil Gavaskar

By Sunil Gavaskar As the DLF Indian Premier League comes to the final weekend some stats are quite startling. At the time of writing the top five six hitters in the competition are all Indians and the top three wicket takers are all spinners. Some fancied teams have taken a tumble and though the quickies have not found the Indian pitches to their liking they haven’t made life easy for the opposition especially some of the Indian batting stars.

Warning: The IPL is not ‘too big to fail’ – By Suresh Menon

By Suresh Menon It is not as if the latest controversy in the IPL has come as a surprise. Right from the first tournament, there has been a cry for transparency; the conflict of interests inherent in having a senior board official own a franchise was made clear. The impropriety of the chairman of the national selection committee being a brand ambassador of a franchise was pointed out.

Loughborough University Work Experience Day

My name is Catherine and I am currently in my second year studying Printed Textiles at Loughborough University. When I initially decided to do a placement year after my second year I was a little sceptical as to whether it would be a good idea. However, after my day’s placement at Indigo Clothing I believe it is far more beneficial to have an insight into the working world.
