Grotesk x Nike Sportswear The Pipe Dream TeamThe American stadium jacket has a certain historical context to it that makes me reminisce of times watching John Travolta in Grease prance about groups of cig smoking blond breezies with stadium jackets or better yet, bowling jackets because nobody really gave a shit about the fashions of major league baseball at the time… The collaboration between Grotesk & Nike Sportswear, though significantly more over-the-top than creation birthed of the fifties, is an excellent addition to anyone’s wardrobe through embracing traditional styling conventions through the cursive on the right, and the crest over the heart.

Despite obvious gropes for street cred through their penitentiary-inspired campaign, Levi’s doesn’t grope for quality in their collaboration with Cone Mills for their “1915 fit” jean called the Homer (after the original owner). The pants, surprisingly lightweight at 11 ounces, feature a deep blue hue that is very attractive for the upcoming season along with high quality hemming on the inside of the pants leg which is relatively rare for your typical run-of-the-mill Levis products. The collaboration came to pass through a relationship established in 1915 when Cone became a supplier to Levi and this collaborative effort between the two companies is a testament to their relationship as well as the heritage of the two brands.

You may be familiar with hipster-hop’s it-girl from Chi-Town and if you aren’t, then let me refresh you with a brief description. She’s the 29-year-old minority-to-the-max chi-town cutie who has managed to take internet buzz by storm through releasing periodic tracks, no albums, and all the while, dripping in gold jewelry, fresh threads, and of course, Lee Nails. Granted, don’t let her lack of a discography fool you.

Now that the Summer is officially more than halfway over and with looks on to the future and the Fall, brands have been preparing their lineups for the upcoming season and giving us an important degree of insight as to what could potentially be for the (less) cold months. Woolrich Woolen Mills provides an interesting take on workman-inspired fashion along with the seasonal influx grays, browns, olive greens, flannels and corduruoy. As we revisit this trend through prints such as plaids (most notably in this collection), we can take note of how the trend has started to metamorphose into something beyond what it was a year ago.
