While I was in NYC I managed to stop by the Built By Wendy shop to coo over their pieces in person. I’m a very tactile person, so it was really nice to be able to feel the quality in the fabrics (which isn’t apparent when browsing an online shop). Even on sale the prices seemed out of my range…however, when I got my first letter of acceptance to law school I decided to celebrate with a little splurge.

My mother volunteers at a local thrift shop and tends to get “first pick” of donated items which usually leads to her bringing home gaudy cupid lamps (of which I wholeheartedly approve and plan to steal someday). Usually, she doesn’t really have any input in my wardrobe and doesn’t buy me clothes, but I’m thrilled that she didn’t pass on this velvet vested beauty and brought it home (for a mere $1, I might add). It is just absolutely amazing and so intricate; each color is a seperate piece of fabric.
