Climber Of Trees, Swinger Of Birches

“So was I once myself a swinger of birches. And so I dream of going back to be. It’s when I’m weary of considerations, And life is too much like a pathless wood…” -Robert Frost I tend to avoid talking about the process of taking my pictures, because the tripod, self-timer, and difficulty involved, tends to take the romanticism out of the final product.

Those Roving Years Of Endless Jeers

Here are my newish eyeglasses again (technically I’ve had them for a couple of months now). I have gotten so used to my contacts that I forgot how inconvenient eyeglasses can be: they fog up in the cold, offer no protection from the sun, etc, etc. Still, I like wearing my glasses every now and then.

Party All Night Long With Barbro Anderson

Barbro Anderson is a Norwegian blogger with cheekbones that could cut glass. She describes her style as “romantic rocker meets elegance with a pinch of emotional diva” and after only seeing a few of her outfits, I was hooked on her blog. I really admire all the pictures she takes outside in the cold and snow (I know how uncomfortable that can be!) and her darkly chic outfits.

Find A Map And Draw A Straight Line

“Frequently the woods are pink, Frequently are brown; Frequently the hills undress Behind my native town.” -Emily Dickinson This ring is fist-pumping goodness; I really don’t think I could have designed myself a more perfect ring. I’ve been looking for the perfect double finger ring, but I never imagined I would find one with whimsical birds perched atop (and it is adjustable). I found it at Old Gold Boutique , which I discovered on the lovely blog Our Paper Moon and I’m quite addicted to a number of the rings they offer.

Berlin-based VONROSEN give exclusivty another lease on life.

Every year there is an up stick of new labels wanting to squeeze their clothes into already saturated, but popular department stores. These ambitious labels are started by graduating students taking a long leap outside their comfort zone to face their long dreamt destiny of becoming designers. But the lingering road to brightly lit runways flanked by rows of journalists and fashion buyers is long and rough.

For All Our Joys Are But Fantastical

Some of my favorite periods in art were also the most brief, like Art Deco. The more modern the art the shortest its height of popularity, no? Art Deco’s popularity peaked in the “Roaring Twenties” and I think these postcards from that era reflect the break with tradition and the redefinition of modern womanhood.

The Wild Still Lingered In Him

I can never view enough of Rodney Smith’s photographs. There seems to be some intriguing narrative in many of his images, like he is as much as story-teller as a photographer. Or perhaps he is merely capturing subjects on the onset of some grand adventure from whence they will never return..

Celebrate the 2010 Winter Olympics In Style with Sophias Style!

As many of you may know, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are only about 30 days away. I don’t know about you and your family, but we absolutely love to watch the Olympics on TV. Ice skating is my favorite event, but mostly it’s just fun to cheer on Team USA in all the events! When we were little, my sister, my cousins and I would pretend to ice skate in the basement while we watched the games on television.

How not to choose a staff uniform

There are a few basic rules to choosing uniform clothing: •    Consult your staff – they are the ones who have to wear what you select, and they may not feel happy about wearing something too outrageous. As an example, Air New Zealand’s newest uniform look has been criticised by staff who say the flamboyant pink dresses How not to choose a staff uniform is a post from: Clothes 2 Order Printing and Embroidery Blog

Transformers In Your Closet

“Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.” -Irving Wallace A wardrobe is only as limited as the owner’s imagination; it really is about what you do with what you have. Shirt dresses are particularly accommodating to transformation and remixes ; they are the grown up female equivalent of transforming toys for little boys. The colors and print in this dress made it wearable with a large range of palettes: from reds, to blues, and lots of neutrals in between

O, For A Draught Of Vintage

Way back in the day when I was brainstorming over what I would like my blog name to be, one of the titles on the list was “The Fashion Plate.” Why? Like “clothes horse,” the term is antiquated with multiple meanings; used figuratively it references a person who conforms to the latest fashions. The literal phrase comes from hand-engraved plates introduced in the beginning of the 1800s to promote the clothing style of the time.

Choosing uniforms for the seasons

At present, many winter uniforms seem to be lacking enough clothing, with many companies rushing to order jackets and coats for their staff and even sending desperately short-notice orders for fleeces which chilly employees can wear over their uniform shirts or even, for the truly unlucky, branded T-shirts! Hats, scarves and gloves for those working Choosing uniforms for the seasons is a post from: Clothes 2 Order Printing and Embroidery Blog
